I am a Graduate of the Guildhall School of Music.I love music and I derive great joy in inspiring both children and adults to enjoy music. I value building a good relationship with my pupils and I am conscientious and hard working. I will work with a student according to their goals, whether that is taking them through ABRSM or Trinity exams or helping them play music of their own choice simply for pleasure. I teach theory and music appreciation as it applies to their pieces as well as separately as required.
I have had over 30 years of teaching experience in a variety of settings, including schools and individual instrumental teaching. We lived abroad where I home – schooled my own children for 16 years making sure they had a good musical education!One of my joys is organising children to play in groups.

Our family has moved, and therefore, my daughter has had four talented piano teachers. Mrs. Jenny Smith was my daughter’s favourite. Jenny had a way of explaining musical concepts that made sense to my young daughter and now, she continues to love music. She plays beautifully partially because of Mrs. Smith’s help in building a strong foundation. Mrs. Smith is gracious with high standards. She pushes students to do their best and gives creative incentives to help them keep improving. My daughter passed all of her ABRSM exams with distinction. I highly recommend Mrs. Smith as an excellent music teacher.
Jenny is an inspiring teacher. She worked as the conductor of the high school orchestra my daughter participated in. She taught her orchestra students how to play their instruments beautifully and musically. She was patient with her students, and supported them emotionally. Jenny also gave my daughter, Grace, private violin lessons from a young age. She inspired Grace to become passionate about music, and Grace is now studying Music at Wheaton College. Jenny's teaching was so excellent in many ways. Jenny also taught my daughter Music theory and the history of music. Due to her amazing teaching, Grace was able to get a Distinction in the ABRSM Grade 5 Theory Exam and a 5 on the Music Theory AP exam. I truly thank God for giving my daughter an opportunity to meet a wonderful person like Jenny and have violin lessons from her at a critical time in her musical journey.
Jenny Smith was my first piano teacher growing up. During my 4 years studying under her, I was encouraged yet also challenged in my piano skills. She introduced me to ABRSM and is one of the reasons I am still taking piano lessons today (9 years later!) I am thankful for all she has taught me and the positive impact she had on me. I would highly recommend her as a kind and patient piano teacher!
